You made a track you are proud of. You want it on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and YouTube Music — where real listeners discover music every day. Jam.com now offers built-in music distribution, so you can go from upload to streaming platforms without leaving the platform where you already share your work.
This guide walks through exactly how it works, what it costs, and what to expect. No surprises, no hidden fees — just a straightforward path from your Jam.com catalog to the world's biggest streaming platforms.
How Jam.com Distribution Works
Jam.com's distribution service gets your music onto four major streaming platforms: Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and YouTube Music. When you place a distribution order, our team manually reviews and processes your submission. This is not a fully automated pipeline — real people handle your music, which means quality checks and human attention at every step.
Orders are typically processed and submitted to platforms within 4 days. Once submitted, each platform has its own review and publishing timeline, but most tracks go live within a few business days after submission.
Pricing
Distribution pricing is simple and transparent:
- Single track: $5 (or 500 Gems)
- Album / EP: $12 (or 1,200 Gems)
That is it. No annual subscription, no per-platform fees, no hidden charges. You pay once per release. You can pay with a credit card via Stripe, or use your Jam.com Gems balance — which means if you have earned Gems through tips and community engagement, you can distribute your music without spending any real money at all.
The free path: An artist who earns Gems through community engagement can distribute a single track for zero out-of-pocket cost. Create on Jam.com, earn on Jam.com, distribute on Jam.com — a complete pipeline from creation to streaming platforms.
Professional Mastering Add-On
When placing a distribution order, you can optionally add professional mastering for $2 per track (or 200 Gems). This is human-AI audio engineering — every track is heard by human ears before distribution. Auto levels are fixed, the mix is balanced, and the audio is mastered to radio quality.
Mastering is not required, but it makes a difference. AI-generated tracks sometimes have volume inconsistencies, frequency imbalances, or dynamic range issues that become more noticeable on high-quality playback systems. Professional mastering smooths these out and ensures your track sounds its best on Spotify's normalization pipeline, Apple Music's lossless format, and everywhere else it plays.
Step-by-Step: Distributing a Track
- Upload your track to Jam.com with full metadata: title, genre, mood tags, description, and cover art. Your track needs to be approved by our editorial team before it can be distributed.
- Add cover art. Distribution requires cover art. You can upload your own artwork or use Jam.com's AI-powered artwork generator to create custom cover art based on your song's title, genre, and lyrics.
- Click "Distribute" on your approved track page. This takes you to the distribution order form.
- Select a distribution genre. This is the genre used for categorization on streaming platforms. Pick the one that best represents how listeners should discover your music.
- Optionally add mastering ($2/track) for professional audio engineering before distribution.
- Choose your payment method: credit card (Stripe) or Gems.
- Submit. Your order enters our processing queue. You can track the status from your Dashboard: Paid → Processing → Submitted → Live.
Ready to Distribute?
If you have an approved track with cover art on Jam.com, you're one click away from Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and YouTube Music.
Distributing Albums and EPs
Albums and EPs can be distributed for $12 (or 1,200 Gems). The process is the same: click "Distribute" on your published album page, select a genre, optionally add mastering for all tracks, and submit. All tracks in the album are distributed together as a cohesive release.
If you add mastering, the per-track fee applies to each track in the album. For example, an 8-track album with mastering would cost $12 (distribution) + $16 (mastering for 8 tracks) = $28 total. Without mastering, it is a flat $12 regardless of track count.
Target Platforms
Jam.com distributes to four major streaming platforms:
- Spotify — 600+ million users, the dominant music streaming platform worldwide.
- Apple Music — Deep integration with the Apple ecosystem, lossless audio quality, strong editorial playlists.
- Amazon Music — Access to Alexa-powered listening and Amazon's massive customer base.
- YouTube Music — Billions of monthly users and strong algorithmic discovery through YouTube's recommendation engine. Your music is available for listening and discovery, but we opt out of Content ID registration (see below).
Lyrics and Cover Art Included
Your distribution includes cover art and lyrics. Album artwork is delivered to every platform, and your lyrics can appear on lyrics display features across streaming services and lyric index websites throughout the internet. If your track has lyrics on Jam.com, they travel with the distribution — giving listeners the full experience and expanding your music's reach beyond audio alone.
YouTube Music: Content ID Opt-Out
Your music is distributed to YouTube Music for listening and discovery, but Jam.com opts out of YouTube's Content ID / MusicID registration on your behalf. Content ID would automatically flag and claim any video that uses your music — which directly conflicts with Jam.com licenses that give content creators the right to use your tracks. By opting out, your music is available on YouTube Music as a streaming platform while content creators can still use it freely under their Jam.com licenses.
Why Not TikTok?
TikTok is not included for the same reason. Distributing music to TikTok registers it with Content ID, which would prevent content creators from using your music under Jam.com licenses. Since many Jam.com artists earn from licensing their music to content creators, TikTok distribution would directly conflict with that revenue stream. We chose to protect your licensing income rather than add a platform that could undermine it.
Tracking Your Order
After placing a distribution order, you can track its progress from your Dashboard. Orders move through these statuses:
- Paid — Payment confirmed, your order is in our queue.
- Processing — Our team is reviewing and preparing your submission (including mastering if selected).
- Submitted — Your music has been submitted to streaming platforms and is awaiting their review.
- Live — Your music is live on streaming platforms.
You will receive notifications at each status change so you always know where things stand.
Self-Service Alternatives
Jam.com distribution is designed for simplicity — one-click from your existing catalog, no external accounts needed. But if you prefer to manage distribution yourself, there are excellent self-service options:
- DistroKid ($22.99/year) — Unlimited uploads for a flat annual fee, AI-friendly, 100% royalties. The best choice for prolific creators who want full control over every distribution parameter.
- TuneCore ($11.99/single) — Established platform with detailed analytics. Good for creators who release less frequently.
- CD Baby ($9.99/single one-time) — One-time fee model with a 9% royalty commission. Note: they have increasingly restricted fully AI-generated content.
These services give you more granular control — custom release dates, specific platform selection, direct royalty collection, and access to 150+ platforms. For artists who want to manage their own distribution pipeline, they are excellent tools.
The advantage of Jam.com distribution is integration. Your track is already uploaded, your metadata is set, your cover art is ready, and your audience is already listening. One click, one payment, and your music reaches the four biggest streaming platforms. No new accounts, no learning a new interface, no exporting and re-uploading files.
Royalties
Streaming royalties from your distributed music are paid out via Stripe. Other payout methods are available upon request. You can track your distribution orders and earnings from your Dashboard.
Distribution + Licensing = Two Revenue Streams
Here is what makes Jam.com distribution unique: your music earns on two fronts simultaneously. On Jam.com, your track generates licensing revenue when content creators purchase personal or commercial licenses. On streaming platforms, the same track earns streaming royalties from listeners.
A single track on Jam.com with licensing enabled and distributed to Spotify is working for you in two completely independent markets. Licensing income does not depend on stream counts, and streaming royalties do not depend on licensing sales. They complement each other — and the more platforms your music is on, the more opportunities you have to earn.
